Carrier geothermal heat pump. Found system locked out on code 4 low water temp. Reset unit and checked operation check after temp in and out 50/33. Temps rise 16 difference. 65/81. Check refrigerant levels 275/85 based on data from manufacturer pressures should be 300/325 over 110/120 at 50 degree water in. Pressure were moving all over. Some times will get low as 55/200 could hear compressor grinding. After minutes of running compressor stopped making noise but pressures were still bouncing. Based on carrier serial number unit was produced back in 2011. Provided estimate to come back and perform advanced troubleshooting will need to call carrier for further help.

Looked over customers system and we came to the conclusion that due to the unseasonably cold and dry conditions outside that the steam humidifier is running much more frequently and consuming power for the humidifier and the blower motor so I showed him how to adjust his humidity settings and bumped it down by 5 percent and told him to see if his energy bill is less because of it.

Checked and tested system . Went through programming on thermostat. Wired in Generac . System looks good and running to standards. Tested steam humidifier as well .

Found failed 1/3 HP 1080 RPM blower motor. I have previous encouraged upgrading this system but for the sake of getting the dorm manager heat he decided to repair. I completed work today: Removed failed motor from air handler, housing then bracket. Shaft was very rusted. Cleaned blower wheel as best as possible. Was extremely dirty. Installed new blower motor using original hardware and wheel with new capacitor. Wired according to rescue motor chart. Left addition leads with wire nuts in case we very need to use those speeds. Afterwards tested system operations. Replaced 20x20x1 air filter. It was extremely dirty. Last replaced in July when I did tune up. Recommend replacing every 2-3 Months. System operating well at this time. Strongly recommend upgrading this system ASAP as there is an R22 refrigerant leak which will cause AC issue in the cooling season. Office to send invoice.

Installed new Bosch gas furnace. Installed Aprilaire 2410 filter box. New 14x25 return drop and new supply plenum. New 30x30 drain pan, wet switch, condensate pump, EZ Trap and vinyl. Adapted to existing 3” PVC. Added intake drain. Adapted to existing fuel line. New blower surge protector. Installed new Bosch heat pump. New 30x30 pad with snow legs. New disconnect with surge protector. Flushed line set. Reinstalled REME halo and steam humidifier. Cleaned and tested out operations. Check pressures in spring time.
