Commercial Hvac Repair 1

As a business owner, if your heating and cooling system has some age on it, you’re hoping it makes it through the hot Eastern North Carolina summer without any major glitches or repairs required. What follows are some commercial HVAC issues you may encounter this season and what you can do about them.

Commercial HVAC Repair Issues: Compressor Problems

The HVAC system for your commercial building is responsible for keeping the building occupants comfortable all year. During the warmer summer months, the compressor is taxed with a higher cooling load, which makes it work longer to pump refrigerant through the HVAC system. Over time, compressor parts wear out and need replacing. Some of the signs you have compressor problems are ice accumulation on the evaporator coil and warm air blowing from the supply vents.

Commercial HVAC Repair Issues: Evaporator

The evaporator coil is the device that very cold refrigerant flows through. The cold refrigerant instigates the transfer of heat energy from warm return airflow to the cold refrigerant. The most common evaporator problem is ice accumulation and reduced heat transfer. These issues are often caused by a lack of return airflow. To prevent a lack of airflow, it’s essential to change all HVAC air filters before they become clogged with dirt and debris. A clogged filter restricts airflow, wastes energy, and can damage the evaporator and other components.

Commercial HVAC Repair Issues: Ductwork

The air ducts in your commercial HVAC system are the lungs of your commercial building. The ductwork needs to be checked and maintained on a regular basis or you’re bound to develop costly problems as the equipment ages. Some signs that you may already have ductwork issues are very high energy bills, uneven airflow, and rattling noises. If you’re experiencing any of these issues, set up an HVAC service call immediately.

To keep your commercial building’s HVAC system working at it’s peak performance consider an Energy Savings Plan that will allow for regular maintenance tune ups to keep your HVAC equipment in tip top shape.
