Being the owner of a well-functioning and efficient HVAC system has its benefits. Saving energy season after season and enjoying a comfortable home day and night are two of the big ones, wouldn’t you agree? With many more benefits gained with regular HVAC care, it just makes good sense to protect your HVAC investment. What better way to do that than with a semi-annual preventive maintenance agreement? Here are your answers.

For Better Home Comfort

Seeing your HVAC technician on a regular basis gives you the opportunity to better address any comfort problems in your home. Even if the comfort problem isn’t due to your furnace or A/C performance, it could have something to do with duct issues or air leaks in your home’s envelope. A qualified HVAC technician can help with these comfort problems, too.

Better Performance, Fewer Repairs

One of the important tasks your technician performs during preventive maintenance is cleaning your heating and cooling units. Dirty parts just don’t operate as efficiently as they do when they’re clean, and dirty and grimy parts have a tendency to wear out faster.

Ensure Safe Operation

If you use a gas furnace and/or a gas water heater, it’s important to have them inspected every year to ensure safe operation. Venting should be checked and the combustion parts tested and cleaned to minimize the risk of harmful gases escaping to your living spaces.

Service Life

Your HVAC system has an estimated service life. Central heat pump and A/C systems last on average 10 to 15 years respectively. Gas furnaces may last 15 to 20 years on average. Note the word “average” in these life spans. Regular maintenance helps your systems last to and beyond manufacturer estimated system life spans.

Warranty Requirements

HVAC manufacturers typically ask two requirements be met for warranty coverage. The first is that your system is installed by a licensed and qualified HVAC business. Then next requirement is that your HVAC system receives regular preventive maintenance. Keep your warranty valid with a preventive maintenance agreement.
