Our HVAC system went out this past Saturday. I called Jackson and Sons, who had a technician at my home very quickly! Unfortunately I need a whole new system, they had a sales consultant here Monday, he gave me options, I chose one, and entire system was installed next day! The technicians who did the install were polite, courteous, worked quickly, tested everything, and cleaned everything up! I was very impressed with the entire team and the experience!!

Found a gas leak on gas manifold piping in the attic. Removed the fitting, cleaned and reassembled and re-sprayed to check for leaks again.

10+ year old system. Found faulty gas valve receiving voltage unable to open, and (3) burners are heavily rusted/corroded. These are minimum repairs needed. Heat exchanger is rusted throughout. Costly repairs not recommended. Declined field supervisor and repairs at this time. Built repair estimates.

Found water leaking from a split dresser coupling. Removed dresser coupling and re-piped with new PVC pipe and fittings.

Performed ESA on (1) Trane Split Heat Pump. Recommend installing PlasmaPure Air purifier to prevent buildup inside air handler/enhance air quality. Recommend adding Start Capacitor to lower strain on compressor upon starting. Currently pulling 45A upon startup. Built and sent estimates.

- Tech found condenser not running when thermostat calls for heat. Found DATS on zone board reading 168°F with no heat strips or compressor running. Removed DATS and submerged in cold water; still reading 171°F, indicating DATS failure. - Advised customer and provided replacement quote. Customer opted to postpone replacing the DATS at this time. - Tech reprogrammed zone board and removed the DATS from the circuit to bypass its function. - Tested heat strips and defrost cycle. - Customer registered for a 1 system PSA with annual payment. System is operating normally at this time. Thermostat set to 70°F at tech departure per customer.

Performed ESA on (1) Goodman split heat pump. Replaced (1) collapsed 15’ branch line in attic, other line feeding room of concern found slightly detached from trunk line. Re-attached and airflow improved. Did not need replacement. Re-wrapped 5’ of trunk line from air handler with insulation. Changes own filters.

Found primary float switch tripping intermittently upon arrival. Auxiliary drain pan, float switches, and primary drain trap were recently replaced by another company. Trap used was not deep enough, and not vented causing drainage challenges. Installed EZ trap and vent, and insulated 5’ of primary drain line in attic due to sweating. Tested drainage with no further challenges. Also found auxiliary pan with small amount of water present due to drip tray underneath evaporator coil fallen alongside primary drain issues. Re-secured with self tapping screw to bracket through service panel. Customer stated they will remove excess water from pan with shop vac. Stated (2) rooms seem to stay hotter in summer months, and colder during winter months. Both 6” flex lines for these rooms are crushed and need replacement. (2) 6” lines approximately 10’ long each totaling 20’. Also recommend re-insulating trunk line plenum exiting air handler due to sweating. Built and sent over estimate for repairs.

Customer reports whole house is not keeping up. System is a 14 seer 4 ton heat pump condenser with indoor electric furnace on a double wide manufactured home. Reports system is about 10 years old. Says it was 77 the other day with setpoint at 72. Also reports rusted holes in ductwork and high power bills. Currently cooling home with window units. Tech allowed system to stabilize in cooling mode and found running pressures low, superheat slightly high and 0 degrees subcooling. Design subcooling at current temperatures is 7 degrees. Tech estimates system is 2-3 lbs low on R410a refrigerant. Repairing current system would require a full leak search, leak repair, and 15 lbs of R410a. Lineset is buried. Tech inspected crawlspace and found crawlspace air cold due to duct leakage. Crawlspace is encapsulated and in good condition. The dehumidifier is working. Tech recommends replacing duct system and electric furnace/14 seer outdoor unit with a higher seer package unit. Need to check heat

15 YEAR OLD SYSTEM FOUND LOW ON REFRIGERANT. LOCATED LEAK WITHIN DARK SPOT IN MIDDLE OF EVAPORATOR COIL. COSTLY REPAIRS NOT RECOMMENDED DUE TO AHE AND OVERALL POOR CONDITION. HANDED OVER TO FIELD SUPERVISOR. COLLECTED VIA PHONE.

Tech returned to add refrigerant to system, tech explained without coil being cleaned lack of airflow and freezing coil may still persist. Tech added 1lb 14oz of R410A, pressures and subcool are back within spec. 17 degree delta t. Also recommended investing in service agreement to prevent future issues with system especially to keep drain line clear and prevent water leaks.

Upon arrival tech found suction line froze up at condenser, evap coil was frozen over. Tech switched reversing valve to quickly defrost ice. Found pressures low, also found return side of evaporator coil to be very dirty. Quoted customer on evaporator coil cleaning as well as leak search. Customer would like to think about options before making a decision. Tech sent estimate with recommended repairs.

Found no challenges with today’s visit, tested heat and cool cycles, capacitors checked out good. Costumer experienced a nasty smell upon turning on the heat for the first time. Tech removed the blower motor to inspect the heat strips and found them intact/clean. Heat strips operating for the first time In a while will produce an abnormal smell which is typically normal. System heats and cools. Tech recommended ESA (maintenance) to the system, provided a flyer with our ESA plans for review. Costumer stated that they will call when they are ready to invest into our maintenance plans.
