I recently had the pleasure of having Aidan, a technician, come to my house to assist with an issue. From start to finish, the service provided was exceptional. Aidan was not only punctual and professional but also extremely knowledgeable about the problem I was experiencing. Although the issue was beyond the scope of what could be fixed on-site, Aidan clearly explained what was wrong and provided valuable guidance on the next steps I needed to take to get it resolved. Tech adjusted air flow from medium to high. Tech did see light from sheet rock in bathroom and bedroom system is operating properly at this time.

Technician returned to perform repair replaced compressor and replaced evaporator coil. Technician pressurized system and pulled vacumm down to desired microns. Tech added 7.5lbs of 410a system is operating properly pressure are slightly higher then usual due to hotter temperatures in house. System has a 20 degree delta t. Technician also replaced dual run capacitor. 45/5.

Tech found AHU, lineset, drain, and supply side of ductwork sweating. Thermostat fan setting is already on auto, but setpoint is satisfied at 67. Indoor humidity reading is 70% RH. Blower is on speed tap 2. TESP is .6" WC which is 651 nominal CFM for 2 ton system at that static pressure. Outdoor humidity level around the house is very high. Ground is swampy. House is on a concrete slab. Tech recommends increasing blower speed, raising setpoint, and installing a supplemental dehumidifier in the attic ducted to the conditioned space. There is an available 120 outlet. Increased setpoint from 67 to 70. Customer could not afford the blower adjustment quote today. Emailed quote. Mike Acree will call later today about dehumidifier options. No housecall per Premium agreement.

Tech found multiple issues with the system, listed in order of severity: 1. Evaporator coil has a leak around one of the U-joints (see videos). 2. One 6” flex duct is disconnected at splice, venting cold air into attic. 3. Condenser coil is obstructed by dust buildup, causing high pressure. 4. Obstructed evaporator coil from dust buildup, causing air restriction. 5. Low refrigerant charge due to leak. 6. Suction line insulation has worn off and no longer serves its purpose. 7. System age (and condition); January, 1996. Tech informed customer about issues and customer approved the leak search before allowing tech to further diagnose. After finding a leak in the evaporator coil, customer requested no further diagnosis or repair. Tech recommended a system replacement; customer wants to exhaust all their options before replacing the system. Customer inquired about thermostat replacement and opted not to replace at this time. System is operating at this time.

Tech found that bathroom ventilation fan had to damper installed in collar and was allowing outdoor ambient air to draft into the room. Exhaust fan is installed within six inches of supply vent in small bathroom area (see photo), likely causing the supply vent to sweat. Advised customer to call an electrician to replace exhaust assembly or install a collar with damper. Tech replaced upstairs and downstairs air filters. Tech observed that condenser unit is slightly off-level (see photo) but not a severe issue at this time. System is running normally at this time.

Caleb Smith is tentatively available tomorrow. Tech let customer know. System is a 13 year old Carrier 3 ton split heat pump zoned upstairs and downstairs. Tech arrived and confirmed compressor diagnosis from other company was accurate. Compressor is shorted to ground. Tech also found 45/5uf dual run capacitor is reading 11% weak on FAN side and indoor coil is corroded. Tech confirmed indoor coil refrigerant leak near center of U bends on door side of AHU. See video. Confirmed blower and outdoor fan operation. Confirmed zone dampers respond correctly. Bypass counterweight needs to be adjusted. Bypass is fully closed all the time. Due to age and cost of non warranty repairs, tech recommends split system replacement. Need to check on coil replacement cost. See model/serial of AHU. Caleb scheduled for tomorrow.

Found the drain line clogged, which triggered the float switch. The float switch is wired up in the system to where the whole system will shut off if it gets triggered. Tech cleared the drain line and flushed it out with water. System is back cooling. Service warranty. Tech followed up with the costumer about the plasma air ionizer and would like to wait for now and she will call when she is ready to have it installed. Estimate will be sent.

CUSTOMER IS PREMIUM. FOUND DRAIN TRAP CLOGGED CAUSING FLOAT SWITCH TO TRIP. CLEARED DRAIN LINE AND REMOVED EXCESS WATER. TESTED DRAINAGE WITH NO FURTHER CHALLENGES. SYSTEM UP AND COOLING. ALSO SLIGHTLY RE-POSITIONED PRIMARY FLOAT SWITCH AND TESTED. SERVICE WARRANTY.

Customer is flipping house, he is wanting to stay as cheap as possible and go back with another electric furnace and condenser. Told him we could install a package unit on the mobile home. He did not want to go that route.

Tech washed and serviced unit and found no challenges with downstairs unit at this time tech found rusted and corrosion on upstairs unit but no leaks at this time tech found no other challenges at this time.

Upon arrival tech inspected slip system and duct work. System is a 2009 R22 electric furnace. Compressor mega ohm in the caution range. Compressor, fan motor, and blower motor capacitors were all within range. Temperature coming through vents was reading 65 degrees. One of the crossover lines was fallen down and tech got approval to repair from homeowner. Homeowner stated he wanted to just keep it cooling for about 3 more weeks until they finished construction and then would replace it. Contacted office about setting up sales lead for replacement.
