Chicago Rotated 1

A customer in Chicago gave us a call when he began noticing a sewer smell throughout his home. The Trenchless Innovations team began the job with a full inspection of the customer’s sewer line to try to determine the cause of the smell.

The team attempted to identify the one connection in the sewer by running water in the downspout, but they did not see any water come through. After further investigation, an old floor drain was discovered that has since been disconnected when the house was remodeled years back. The Trenchless team identified this drain as the possible cause of the sewer smell in the home.

The plan was to line over the old connection, not reinstating the opening, and lining 35’ of remaining deteriorated 6” clay tile pipe. Our team had to open the drywall in the basement to expose the PVC sewer stack and then cut the stack to provide access for the liner. Once the lining was complete, the sewer stack was reconnected with new missions and the cut drywall section was screwed back into the existing wall.
